Since the Winter Issue 2017, we introduced a new section in the magazine called Projects for the Planet. In this section we explore crowdfunding campaigns where designers, innovators and entrepreneurs are seeking funding for their eco-friendly products or services.

RAGAMUF – As featured in the Spring Issue 2018 – Ragamuf creates beautiful rugs which transform every chair used. The fabrics used to create these rugs are leftovers from the fashion industry in Turkey, which means that this project is not only making use of unwanted furniture but also makes great use of scrap materials too.

BE – As featured in the Spring Issue 2018 – Be is a design of the Goodwill Company and it is an electric toothbrush designed to eliminate the need of batteries. The other great thing about this toothbrush is that it also comes with a selection of reusable biodegradable heads!

WIBES – As featured in the Spring Issue 2018 – Wibes is a fashion brand that combines their love of Africa with their passion for fashion. The creators of the brand, Aurélie and Nicolas have designed and produce eye catching and most importantly ethical shoes. Each pair of shoes sold will fund one day of school a girl via their partner the International Organisation of Women in Côte d’Ivoire.

QURKIES – As featured in the Spring Issue 2018 – Qurkies is an eco=friendly alternative to the famous toy Lego Duplo. Qurkies is the idea of product design and father Ruud va den Hejikant, who after feeling amazed by the amount of plastic toys he wanted to see more natural materials in children’s toys. Qurkies is made in Portugal from cork.

22 DEGREES – As featured in the Winter Issue 2018 – The 22 Degrees new prototype ocean jacket is made from a mix of recycled neoprene and old tyres. The jacket is the creation of Rick Miskiv, who admits that the biggest challenge for producing the jacket has been getting different factories and vendors on board with producing environmentally responsible products.
